Pedestrian bridge design and construction differs from that of vehicular bridges in a number of ways. Instead of being driven by technical criteria, pedestrian bridges often require a holistic approach that provides optimal structural solutions to aesthetically ambitious designs. Close coordination with architecture, landscape and lighting design is critical. Tying pedestrian bridges into adjacent structures poses another set of challenges. And for publicly funded projects, the ability to work effectively with government agencies is necessary for success.
We have designed hundreds of pedestrian bridges, large and small, for public and private clients, as stand-alone projects and in conjunction with building design projects, and ranging from the utilitarian to the whimsical – and everything in between.
