Associate Director Tracey Cookson
Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering and consulting firm, has appointed Tracey Cookson an associate director in its London office to help develop and grow its property loss and forensics platforms in the United Kingdom and beyond. Comprising several diverse practices that serve the legal, construction, surety and insurance business communities, the firm’s property loss and forensics teams also recently expanded their expertise and service offerings in the UK and international markets with the acquisitions of UK-based technical security and engineering risk management consultants, MFD and MMI.
Based in the Lloyd’s Avenue office, Tracey is responsible for increasing Thornton Tomasetti’s profile with current and new clients who require technical expertise in pre-loss risk analysis, post-loss claims, emergency response and forensic investigations.
“I am delighted to be joining a firm with such strong leadership in the property loss and forensics fields,” Tracey said. “I’m particularly excited to contribute my talents and skills to helping Thornton Tomasetti achieve its ambitious growth goals. I look forward to working with such a progressive and innovative organization that has the ability to offer clients a full range of services across several disciplines anywhere they need us.”
Tracey joins from Aviva Insurance in London, where as a senior manager of technical claims services, she was responsible for multiple claims teams. She is experienced in overseeing large and complex construction, engineering, corporate and commercial claims, and has a strong knowledge of both the London and international markets. Previously, Tracey worked for Suncorp Insurance in Australia, where she managed responses to large disasters, such as the 2008 Queensland storms.
“We are thrilled to have Tracey join Thornton Tomasetti,” Bruce Arita, senior vice president of property loss and forensics, said. “Her superb credentials and breadth of expertise will dovetail with our collaborative team approach to solving client needs as well as our ambitious goals for the future. We look forward to the new dynamics that will result from having her as a key member of the firm.”
Consisting of architects, engineers of a range of disciplines, and scientists, Thornton Tomasetti’s property loss and forensics teams lead emergency responses providing engineering-based analysis and performance assessments of structural and material failures due to natural and manmade hazards. Serving adjusters, re-insurers, brokers, and underwriters as well as providing litigation support and testimony, the teams have performed investigations of structures of all types across nearly every market sector, including aviation, entertainment, onshore energy and mining and construction.
