Demolition of an existing and underused transit center is well underway in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to make room for the new Couture Tower. Thornton Tomasetti is providing structural engineering design services to Rinka Chung Architecture and is the engineer of record for the project. Couture Tower is replacing the transit center with a modern multimodal transportation hub for the city’s vibrant lakefront community, which includes the Milwaukee Art Museum and many of the city’s other attractions. In addition to residential units, the 44-story building will have high-end restaurants and retail space, public plazas and parks, pedestrian bridges and a new lakefront stop for a proposed streetcar.
A two-story banner with a rendering of the new tower is on display at the site.
