Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, announces that Mark A. Coggin, P.E., LEED AP, a principal at the firm’s Philadelphia office, has been accepted for membership into the prestigious Carpenters’ Company, founded in 1792.
The Carpenters’ Company is a guild of prominent architects, contractors and structural engineers. The organization is located in historic Carpenters’ Hall in Philadelphia, PA., and at 300 years old, it is the oldest guild in the United States. Carpenters’ Hall hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774 and has housed the first and second national banks.
• With a membership count close to 150, the Carpenters’ Company exists as a professional organization to preserve and maintain Carpenters’ Hall, as well as the traditions surrounding the guild.
• The Carpenters’ Company also provides encouragement and education for those entering the industry and develops and maintains professional relations with organizations of similar interest.
• Mr. Coggin has 24 years of experience in design and management of structural, civil and construction engineering for commercial, institutional, industrial and residential facilities. He specializes in the evaluation and rehabilitation of structures, including historic buildings and monuments.
