Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, announces that Anjana Kadakia, P.E., LEED AP, a senior principal in the firm’s Newark, N.J. office, has been named a recipient of the 2013 Leaders of Industry Award by the Concrete Industry Board (CIB).
Ms. Kadakia is one of seven professionals who will receive the award at the 2013 CIB President’s Ball ceremony on May 17 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Since 1987, the Leaders of Industry awards have been presented every two years to individuals who display an exemplary attitude toward their work and professional relationships. Recipients must have an esteemed reputation amongst co-workers and be cognizant of the importance of the positive effects their work has on the future of the profession.
• Ms. Kadakia has more than 30 years of experience in the structural analysis, design and review of a variety of building types, including commercial, residential, healthcare, long-span and “sports facilities.
• She specializes in the design and management of large, fast-tracked projects from schematics through construction administration.
• Ms. Kadakia has worked on high-profile projects such as MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, home of the NFL’s Giants and Jets football teams; Rivali Park, a 22-acre mixed-use development in Mumbai, India; Comcast Center in Philadelphia; PETCO Park, home to the San Diego Padres baseball team; and the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Fla.
• Ms. Kadakia holds a bachelor’s degree in structures from Bombay University in India and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
