What: Charles H. Thornton will be a featured presenter at the upcoming Fazlur R. Khan Distinguished Lecture Series in Bethlehem, Pa. Thornton’s presentation, “Renaissance, Rebirth and Disruptive Innovation,” will discuss the four companies he formed after stepping down from his role as co-chairman of Thornton Tomasetti, including management and engineering firm Charles H. Thornton & Company, LLC; technology and structural health monitoring company Straam Inc.; TTG, an industrialized, prefabricated construction entity; and AECOS Ltd., a systems integration company. Other lecturers will include James R. Harris of J.R. Harris & Company, and Jon D. Magnusson of Magnusson Klemencic Associates.

Who: Charles H. Thornton, Ph.D., P.E., Hon. AIA, Hon. ASCE, a consultant and founding principal of Thornton Tomasetti, is one of the preeminent structural engineers and educators in the world. He served as co-chairman of Thornton Tomasetti until 2004. Dr. Thornton has been involved in the design, construction and analysis of billions of dollars’ worth of projects worldwide, including hospitals, arenas, high-rise buildings, airports and transportation facilities and special structure projects. Many of these projects have set industry standards for innovative thinking and creativity and have won a variety of awards.
