What: Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, will present its second annual Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Technology Symposium and Hackathon. Conducted in two sessions, the one-day symposium will focus on computational design and big data. The morning session will highlight recent advances in computational design, analysis, construction and fabrication. The afternoon discussion will focus on how web-based applications can enhance these processes in the future. A cocktail reception will follow.
A two-day “hackathon” after the symposium will challenge participants to generate new ideas and processes that focus on the following two topics: web-based applications that enhance design and collaboration processes for the AEC industry; and tools and processes that promote data-driven building design.
Where/When: The symposium will take place on Friday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Cooper Union, 41 Cooper Square in New York, N.Y. The hackathon will follow on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, at the same location. For more information about the AEC Technology Symposium, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the CORE studio website.
Who: Members of Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE studio will be speaking at the symposium, including Benjamin Howes, Mostapha Roudsari, Jonatan Schumacher and Daniel Segraves, as well as Principal Robert Otani. Other speakers include Deepak Aatresh of Aditazz and Shane Burger of Woods Bagot as well as representatives from Autodesk, BNIM, CASE, Energy Metrics, Enclos, Floored, LMNTs, NBBJ, Varick Media Management and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Hackathon participants will include Elcin Ertugrul, Matthew Naugle and Justin Nardone of Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE studio, along with representatives from Aditazz, Autodesk, Energy Efficient Buildings Hub, Floored, Mackey Architecture and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Why: The AEC Technology Symposium and Hackathon brings together professionals to collaborate on novel ideas and processes for the ACE industry.
