The highest-capacity driven piling work in the state of Wisconsin is underway to support the new 44-story Couture Tower, set to be the tallest residential building in the state on Milwaukee’s lakefront. Thornton Tomasetti’s Milwaukee office is providing both structural engineering design and facade consulting services to Rinka Chung Architecture and is the engineer of record for the project. In addition to providing over 300 apartment units, the tower replaces an underused transit center with a modern multimodal transportation hub for the city’s vibrant lakefront community, which includes the Milwaukee Art Museum and other attractions. The building will also have high-end restaurants and retail space, public plazas and parks, pedestrian bridges and a new lakefront stop for a proposed streetcar. A phased opening is scheduled for 2020.
