Formerly named the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the four-theater center has a seating capacity of 4,500. Thornton Tomasetti was retained to provide structural engineering services. Complex acoustic considerations required reverberation chambers with hydraulically operated pairs of concrete “doors” with heights up to 35 feet hung from long-span roof trusses in the theater space.
The complex includes restaurants and a shopping area and special features such as canopies and pedestrian bridges.
