Ron Joyce Centre in Burlington, Ontario. Courtesy IBI Group Architects.
We provided acoustic engineering and noise control design for a new academic building for McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business’ MBA and executive education programs. The Ron Joyce Centre houses lecture rooms, classrooms, meeting spaces and some commercial space.
Our engineers addressed various acoustic challenges including reducing traffic noise from the adjacent highway, and providing acoustic separations between flex spaces by incorporating operable partitions. We carefully designed acoustic treatments for classrooms and lecture halls to maximize speech intelligibility.
