University of Virginia, Scott Stadium Rehabilitation and Expansion

We provided structural consultation and design services for two projects at Scott Stadium.

We conducted (as prime consultant) a visual inspection of the stadium, made recommendations for rehabilitation and designed repairs for the existing seating areas. Completed in 1998, work included repairs to spalled and deteriorated concrete; cracks in walkways; and ramps, seats and trench drains on both sides of the stadium.

Under a separate contract as a consultant for Heery International, our team served as the structural engineer for the expansion of the existing stadium seating areas on the east and west sides. Our team renovated and expanded the VIP areas, including the President’s Club and Press Box. The existing floor at the fourth level was extended and new concrete seats in front of these areas were added. The new sections were supported by the original structure with the addition of new columns.
