The highway scope includes concrete and asphalt pavement repair and replacement including within the New Rochelle toll plaza, milling, resurfacing, diamond grinding, median barrier repairs and replacement, replacement of existing guide railing, replacement of wood sound barrier, roadside safety improvements, drainage, and embankment modifications, sign structure replacements. The bridge rehabilitation work includes jacking of the Mamaroneck Avenue ramp, repair of girder ends, deck slab repairs, joint replacement, cleaning and painting, repair of girder bearings, concrete barrier repairs, new waterproofing, and overlay; crack, delamination and spall repairs.
Maintaining traffic and revenue operations is critical to the Authority and a major challenge for this project. This work requires nighttime off-peak lane closures, intermittent ramp closures with associated detours, lane switchbacks, cattlechutes, and grade separations, needed to perform the proposed work. Our inspection staff is providing needed inspection of the precast superslab replacement including pre-construction inspection establishing limits of the concrete roadway replacement limits. Close attention is given to the panel leveling, grouting, joint preparation and sealing. The entire roadway surface is to be diamond ground to provide a final smooth riding surface.
