Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, announces that Managing Principal Yi Zhu, a regional leader of the firm’s Pacific Rim operations, has been recognized with a 2015 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business award by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC). The award was presented at the 14th annual reception on June 18 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
The AABDC gala is the only event to highlight the achievements of Asian Americans across the U.S. and their contributions to the business community. Award recipients represent a sampling of some of the best Asian American business owners, professionals and corporate executives who are engaged in a wide range of business interests.
• Zhu has more than 25 years of international experience in the structural analysis, design, and review of buildings, including airports, entertainment and sporting arenas, commercial buildings, long-span structures and mixed-use complexes.
• In 2012, Zhu was named to Thornton Tomasetti’s board of directors, which helped to increase the firm’s international presence.
• He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from City College of New York. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
