Tod Rittenhouse is a member of Thornton Tomasetti’s board of directors. He leads the firm’s East Region and has more than 30 years of experience in structural and protective design and renovations. Tod joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2015 through its merger with Weidlinger Associates, for which he served as managing partner of the firm’s Building Design Group and a member of the board of directors.

Diversified Expertise
Throughout his career, Tod has built up a diverse project portfolio that includes office buildings, educational facilities, museums, embassies and government buildings and laboratory facilities worldwide. In addition to designing complex structures and the restoration of historic buildings, he is also well-known as an expert in safeguarding structures. He has completed more than 500 protective design evaluation and hardening projects including numerous U.S. embassies around the world, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, the renovation of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. and the Oklahoma City Federal Building in Oklahoma. He served on the U.S. Department of State’s Industry Advisory Panel, providing guidance on the construction and maintenance of safe, secure and functional facilities for U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide.

Outside of Work
Tod is an avid golfer and skier. He is always looking for activities to share with his favorite foursome: his wife and two daughters. His most rewarding activity for the past two years has been spending a week in the summer working beside his high school-aged daughter restoring houses for the needy in the Appalachian Region of the U.S.
