Peter has authored numerous papers and is a well-respected lecturer on structural mechanics.

As head of the firm’s Weidlinger Protective Design practice, Peter DiMaggio leads a team of specialists proficient in all aspects of protection engineering design and analysis. Peter is a recognized expert in special structures and protective design and directs many of the firm’s more high-profile and challenging projects worldwide.

Diverse Skill Set
During his 20-year plus career, Peter has been involved in the design and structural hardening of numerous government buildings, including more than 40 U.S. embassies, federal facilities and courthouses. His diverse portfolio also includes office buildings, educational facilities, hotels, stadiums, laboratories, residential towers and unique structures. He has also served as a structural and blast engineering consultant to several legal teams regarding the adequacy and appropriateness of various designs. Peter joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2015 through its merger with Weidlinger Associates, for which he served as principal and a member of the firm’s board of directors.

Outside of Work
Peter enjoys training in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and playing and coaching soccer. While at Columbia, Peter was a star midfielder for the Lions men’s soccer team. He was a second (1990) and first team All-American (1991) and the 1991 Ivy League Player of the Year.
