It's Playoffs Season

Ball Arena
As home to the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, Ball Arena is one of the few venues to host both NBA and NHL playoff games this season. We provided structural design to Populous for the arena, which was developed on a 4.6-acre abandoned rail yard. Thornton Tomasetti
Barclays Center
The Brooklyn Nets have been playing at the Barclays Center since 2012. We provided structural design, façade design and construction engineering services to Ellerbe Becket (AECOM) & SHoP Architects for the design-build arena. Thornton Tomasetti
Golden 1 Center

Kaseya Center

Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse features a 85-foot-tall glass-enclosed entry that encompasses an entire city block. We provided structural & façade engineering and protective design to SHoP Architects for a renovation of the Cavaliers’ home court. Thornton Tomasetti
State Farm Arena
When the Atlanta Hawks kicked off its 2018-19 season, fans got their first look at the newly modernized State Farm Arena. At the time, the renovation was the second largest in the NBA history. We provided structural design services to HOK for the arena. Thornton Tomasetti
Climate Pledge Arena

Prudential Center

Rogers Place
Located in Edmonton, Canada’s ICE District, Rogers Place holds 18,500 fans for Edmonton Oilers hockey games. We provided structural design, advanced analysis and façade optimization analysis to HOK, PCL and ICON Venue Group for the facility. Thornton Tomasetti
T-Mobile Arena
In addition to Vegas Golden Knights hockey games, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas hosts a wide range of entertainment events. We provided structural & acoustic engineering to Populous for the 650,000-square-foot arena. Thornton Tomasetti
UBA Arena
One of the newer NHL venues, UBS Arena in Elmont is home the New York Islanders. Completed in 2021, the arena is located within thoroughbred horse racing’s famous Belmont Park. UBS Arena seats 17,000 for hockey games and 19,000 for concerts and events. Thornton Tomasetti

For sports fans, there’s no better time of the year than spring. That’s when both the National Basketball Association and National Hockey League enter the postseason. Whether your game of choice is hoops or hockey—or both—there’s been plenty of action as the leagues’ top 16 teams battle it out in a seven-game series for the championship. When it comes to the NBA and NHL venues involved in this year’s playoffs, Thornton Tomasetti has worked on more than one-third of them. Above is a look at some of those pro arenas.
