Ramin was solely responsible for the successful design and implementation of a 64-channel permanent vibration monitoring system at Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago, Illinois.

Ramin Behboudi has more than 18 years of experience providing consulting in acoustics, noise and vibration control design and analysis for a wide range of projects. In addition to his extensive portfolio of work in the power generation sector, he has designed tuned mass damper systems (TMDs) for several of the world’s best-known public assembly structures. Ramin joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2017 through its acquisition of Swallow Acoustic Consultants.

Research and Development Focus
Ramin has a keen interest in testing, signal processing and custom-designed data acquisition and processing applications. He has been heavily involved in developing and implementing new acoustic and vibration measurement techniques. As well as writing project-specific applications, Ramin has conducted research into high-performance industrial silencers and enclosures and the design and testing of tuned mass dampers for numerous projects. His work with former colleague Dr. Mal Sacks serves as the basis for ASTM E2459 – 05 Standard Guide for Measurement of In-Duct Sound Pressure Levels from Large Industrial Gas Turbines and Fans.

Diverse Project Experience
Along with his work in the power generation sector, Ramin’s expertise includes design and analysis for projects related to transportation, convention centers, manufacturing, retail, office, cultural, sports and educational spaces. As a senior member of the acoustics, noise and vibration control engineering team, he also trains and mentors junior staff in theory, project management and client relations.

Outside of Work
When not designing TMDs or devising vibration control solutions, you can find Ramin tuning up and playing his Spanish guitar or fine-tuning his culinary skills. He also enjoys watching documentary films, attending concerts and travelling.
