James Cain P.E.

Vice President

James Cain specializes in marine forensic analysis at Thornton Tomasetti, applying experience in offshore vessel design, hydrodynamics, structural engineering, and project management to commercial, government, and offshore marine assets. His technical focus includes ship design, seakeeping, mooring, dynamic positioning, structural analysis, and the application of classification society rules. James draws on shipyard and offshore operations experience to investigate marine incidents, vessel performance, structural issues, and related insurance claims. Through the firm’s marine and ports investigations and claims services, he provides technical guidance and engineering analysis for shipowners, insurers, and other clients. He also supports litigation matters by translating complex naval architecture and marine engineering issues into clear, technically supportable findings.
