Overview
The tallest hotel in Austin, the 37-story Fairmont Austin luxury hotel features 1,048 rooms and suites in addition to ballrooms, a luxury spa, landscaped terraces with two pools and a skybridge. The building also includes four below-grade levels to accommodate parking, service areas and administrative offices.
We provided structural design services Gensler & AECOM Hunt for the 1.4-million-square-foot complex, which opened in 2017.
Highlights
- The building features two levels of 120-foot clear spans at the ballroom levels. The upper span supports the swimming pool and landscape deck. The spans are accomplished using 14-foot deep steel trusses.
- The project is targeting LEED Gold with high-performance exterior façade shading devices, rainwater harvesting and guest room occupancy monitoring.
