About

Gary Heward has more than three decades of experience in the field of security and blast engineering across a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. He specializes in the design of counter-terrorist measures and security threat and risk assessments and is a recognized expert in the design of hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) systems. He is highly skilled in the design and dynamic impact testing of foundations for temporary, semi-permanent and permanent vehicular security barriers. Gary leads a multi-disciplinary team that provides security surveys, threat assessment, security planning, concept and feasibility studies and project management services to clients throughout the U.K., Middle East, Africa and Australasia. His project work includes office buildings, military facilities and bunkers, weapons assembly and testing facilities, royal households and iconic government and commercial buildings. He has designed more than 100 HMV schemes at airports, railway stations, public venues, palaces, embassies and financial institutions.


A leading expert in HVM systems, Gary has served as an advisor to numerous committees including British Standards Institution Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 68 & 69 on vehicle security barriers.
