A Unified Vision for a Modern Healthcare Destination

At the new Inova Alexandria Hospital at Landmark, scale and flexibility go hand in hand. The campus will bring together a 611,000-square-foot inpatient hospital, a 110,000-square-foot cancer center, and a 90,000-square-foot health center, all connected by a central plinth that ties the experience together for patients, visitors, and staff. We provided structural design and acoustic and vibration engineering for the project, supporting a complex, high-performance healthcare environment designed to function seamlessly now and into the future.

Comprehensive Care, All in One Location

The hospital’s program encompasses everything you might expect from a modern medical facility, including private patient rooms, an emergency department, diagnostic imaging, and procedural spaces. A central utility plant supports the operations behind the scenes. The adjacent cancer center will focus on outpatient care, diagnostics, and advanced treatment, while the health center houses physicians’ offices and additional procedural areas. The project epitomizes thoughtful design: a 138,000-square-foot plinth connects the major buildings and includes a public plaza and underground parking. This design not only simplifies circulation; it creates a more welcoming, less fragmented experience at ground level. A nearby six-story parking structure supplies more than 660 additional spaces, helping the campus cope when demand surges.

Planning for Growth With a Flexible, Future-Ready Design

The design allows for future vertical expansion of the inpatient bed tower without modifications to the base structure, anticipating long-term growth and avoiding costly disruptions down the line. The end product is a resilient, adaptable campus that strengthens care delivery today and makes better, more accessible healthcare a reality for the Alexandria community now and into the future. Construction is nearing completion – it topped off on March 13, 2026 – and looking toward a planned 2028 opening.
