Overview
The Oak Street Artist Lofts feature 37 affordable housing units marketed toward artists. The 30,000-square-foot complex was certified with LEED for Homes Mid-Rise Pilot Rating System, a system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council as a third party certification program and consists of both mandatory and optional credits.
We provided sustainability services to CWS Architects for the residential center, which opened in 2011.
Highlights
- The building met LEED Silver certification and Architecture 2030 Challenge requirements to receive partial funding from the city of Portland.
- The project is the first affordable multi-family development in Maine to receive a Platinum rating.
- Sustainable initiatives include a super-insulated envelope with minimal air infiltration, heat recovery ventilation, solar hot water, and dedicated bicycle parking.
