University of Miami, Knight Recital Hall
A 200-seat recital hall with state-of-the-art technology is reshaping music education at the University of Miami.
Overview
The University of Miami's Frost School of Music holds more than 350 performances each year. A new recital hall at the university now allows students and faculty to perform in a more acoustically sensitive environment. The hall is part of a larger performance and technology center designed for students to experience the future of music. The facility includes state-of-the-art recording, lighting and projection technology.
We provided structural design services to H3 and Arquitectonica for the 200-seat recital hall, which has acoustic wall panels, a laminate layer to project images on the exterior of the building, wood paneling and fixed seating.
Highlights
- The facility features a large glass stage wall that overlooks views of Lake Osceola, a campus focal point and gathering place.
- The building also includes stage support and storage, along with pre-function and lobby spaces, performer support, rehearsal space and back of the house space.
