A’s Las Vegas Ballpark Roof Structure Reaches Major Milestone

The A’s Las Vegas ballpark has reached a major construction milestone with the installation of the fifth and final steel segment of the stadium’s second roof truss arch. The completed arch spans nearly 700 feet across the playing field and reaches the second-highest point of the 33,000-seat ballpark.

Long-Span Roof Takes Shape

The ballpark’s long-span roof features five overlapping curved surfaces inspired by baseball pennants and supported by freestanding steel arch trusses. When complete, the roof structure will rise 290 feet above the playing field.

The stadium will also feature one of the world’s largest cable-net glass façades in the outfield, providing expansive views of the Las Vegas Strip while creating a dramatic connection between the ballpark and its surroundings.

Structural and Façade Engineering for the Las Vegas Ballpark

Thornton Tomasetti is the structural engineer for the stadium, working with the design team of Bjarke Ingels Group and HNTB. The Mortenson-McCarthy joint venture is serving as construction manager.

In addition to structural engineering, Thornton Tomasetti is providing construction engineering, façade engineering, connection detailing, waterproofing and façade access services for the project.

The A’s Las Vegas ballpark is scheduled to open for the 2028 baseball season.
