Ahmed Zein is a geotechnical engineer with Thornton Tomasetti’s forensics team. In this role, he investigates geotechnical-related failures, structural distress, and performance issues in civil infrastructure and buildings. He has more than two decades of experience as a consulting geotechnical engineer, developing foundation and ground engineering solutions for dams, levees, industrial and power facilities, transportation infrastructure, landfills, and ground improvement projects. Drawing on this experience, Ahmed develops technically defensible conclusions about the causes of and responsibility for failures or deficiencies. He uses advanced computer modeling to analyze complex geotechnical challenges, including slope stability, finite-element seepage and stress analyses, liquefaction assessment, and settlement analysis.
