Jianhai Liang specializes in structural analysis and design for tall and supertall commercial towers, institutional facilities, and industrial complexes. He has led high-rise building design across China, the Middle East, the western U.S., and Central America, applying advanced analytical tools and performance-based seismic design methods to create efficient structural systems.

Jianhai co-authored Thornton Tomasetti’s internal guidelines for tall-building and performance-based design. He also contributes to industry standards through his service on the ASCE/SEI performance-based design committee.

In addition to his structural design work, Jianhai supports Thornton Tomasetti’s Forensics services for large-span and high-rise buildings. His work includes existing-condition assessments, repair and retrofit design, damage assessments, and cause-and-origin analyses following building failures.
