Philip Taylor is a member of Thornton Tomasetti’s Applied Science Practice, where he specializes in designing and assessing safety-critical structures and components subjected to extreme loads. He applies finite element analysis, first-principles calculations, and thermal stress analysis to assess fatigue, fracture, fire, blast, and impact response. He has led projects involving energy, transportation, nuclear-industry assets, and other complex systems exposed to high-consequence loads.

Philip has contributed to research on crash energy management and puncture resistance for rail tank cars and on rail fatigue characterization. He has investigated component failures and routinely develops analysis-based approaches to assess structural integrity. His work helps clients understand performance, identify risks, and develop practical strategies to improve critical infrastructure and equipment resilience.
