The new Heritage and Community Centre provides the City of Pickering in Ontario with a flexible space for events and exhibitions along with office and storage areas. The centre is the heart of community activities and consolidates the archives and local history collection of Pickering library and the recreation amenities of the Greenwood Community Centre in one dynamic facility.
We provided structural design services to Hariri Pontarini Architects for the new 40,000-square-foot centre, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
- The centre features a long-span glulam roof and steel and glulam framing.
- Hollow core slabs support mechanical areas above the basement and at the second floor office area.
