Overview

The new Public Library branch in the Westchester Square area of the Bronx is part of an overall master plan for the area’s revitalization. The new 12,000-square-foot, two-story structure will include reading rooms, multipurpose program rooms, restrooms and public computers, and will feature wireless internet access. The building is comprised of a modern glass-and-steel structure and is seeking LEED Silver Certification.

We are providing site civil and geotechnical engineering services to Snøhetta for the library, which is scheduled to be complete in 2025.

Highlights

  • Our engineering services include site and drainage design, utility layout and routing, and the preparation of construction documents and specifications.
  • The drainage design includes an underground stormwater detention system and submission to the NYCDEP for Site Connection Proposal certification.
  • The geotechnical engineering services include a detailed subsurface report and foundation design recommendations.
