Thornton Tomasetti is providing façade engineering services to the architect for the Fubon development, a slender and elegant 280 metre tall and iconic tower for the Fubon Bank in Taipei, which will stand out amongst its neighbours and will be the second tallest tower in Taiwan. It will comprise office spaces, a hotel, a banquet hall and a museum.
In response to the challenging climate in Taipei, Thornton Tomasetti is engineering the external façades as a double skin wall by optimising the work provided by Renzo Piano Building Workshop for The Shard in London. Furthermore, the façades are designed to withstand high seismic and wind loads. We are currently evaluating the option of closed cavity façades by interrogating the market and commercially available systems that are able to address demanding project conditions.
