Featuring a long-span roof comprising just 15 segments, a hybrid table tennis stadium and concert hall is the centerpiece of a 116-acre city park in Hangzhou.
The centerpiece of the 467,400-square-meter Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 Park is a 6,500-seat indoor table tennis stadium designed to double as a concert hall and events space for the city after the games. The stadium’s oblong, asymmetric form is inspired by the cong, an ancient Hangzhou jade stone artifact.
We provided structural design and sustainability consulting services to Archi-Tectonics for the project, which features a Suspendome roof, similar in structure to a bicycle wheel, that supports a steel and glass diagrid skin.
