Downtown Sheraton Hotel

Overview 

The city's largest hotel, the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel underwent an $80 million renovation that included extensive updates to its 1,238 guest rooms, 138 suites, public areas and 133,000 square feet of meeting spaces, positioning it as a premier destination for conventions, groups and local gatherings. The project is part of a broader revitalization of the Sheraton brand as well as the overall plan to upgrade Denver’s famous 16th Street Mall. 

We provided construction engineering services including design to support crane grillage required for structural steel erection. 

Highlights 

• We verified the existing street level concrete slab for Lieberr LTM 1220-5.2 crane wheel loads, and design and evaluation of the steel grillage crane mat for outrigger loads.
• Our team designed a concrete ramp from the streel to the top of the steel grillage crane mat for crane access.
• We provided design and detailing of post shoring required below the streel level slab through four levels of below grade parking which remained operational during construction.
• We provided site observations during construction and crane set up.
