Joel spent a few years in New York working on projects like the New York Sports and Convention Center and Yankee Stadium, which he considers a great experience, professionally and personally.

Joel Barron has more than 15 years of experience designing structural systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, residential, retail and sports projects. As one of the leaders of Thornton Tomasetti’s Structural Engineering practice in the Dallas office, Joel manages projects, coordinates staffing and assists with business development efforts. He is well-versed in both steel and concrete design.

Sports Expertise
Joel’s portfolio includes more than a dozen new design and peer review sports projects. Among these are structural design for the renovation of the Texas Christian University Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, and major renovations to Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum in University Park, Texas.

Outside of Work
Joel is the father of two young sons. For several seasons, he has served as the coach of his son’s basketball team as well as an assistant coach to a little league baseball team. He also teaches confirmation class at his church. Joel enjoys reading and cheering on the Houston Astros baseball team. For the past several years, he has spent his Friday mornings volunteering and serving breakfast at the Stewpot, part of the Bridge homeless assistance center in Dallas, Texas.
