A New Jewel In The Crown For Major League Soccer
Los Angeles is a city built on entertainment and its sporting venues are no different. BMO Stadium provides both an intimate atmosphere and an exciting game-day experience for fans. On game days fans can enjoy the stadium seating which, at 34 degrees, is among the steepest in MLS. On non-game days the facility can host a variety of activities through its restaurants, museum, conference center and event decks. The stadium can also open its pitch for an additional 35,000-40,000 seats for concerts and community events.
We provided structural and façade engineering to Gensler for the design of the first open-air stadium built in Los Angeles since 1962.
Highlights
- The new development is on the former site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena and aims to support and enhance the revitalization of Exposition Park.
- The stadium design has several unique features such as an exposed structure, long-span cantilevers and a roof clad with 190,000 square feet of ETFE film.
- The ETFE film is self-cleaning under regular rainfall and flexible enough to handle geometric warping during a seismic event.
