An Elegant Façade Design For A Taiwanese High Rise

Ranking as the sixth tallest building in Taiwan upon completion, the Fubon Life Insurance Building includes retail and office space, a rooftop events space, hotel, banquet hall, museum and an outside public garden.

We provided façade consulting and specialty façade analysis to Renzo Piano Building Workshop for the corporate headquarters.

Highlights

• In response to the challenging climate in Taipei, we engineered the external façades as a double skin wall by optimising the work provided by Renzo Piano Building Workshop for The Shard in London.
• The façades are designed to withstand high seismic and wind loads.
• We also evaluated closed cavity façades by reviewing the market and commercially available systems that are able to address demanding project conditions.
• The building is located a few blocks away from Taipei 101, for which Thornton Tomasetti provided structural design, peer view and constructability review services.
