Strength and Brilliance of a Diamond
The design for the 203-meter Kohinoor Square tower is inspired by one of the largest diamonds in the world. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) certified it as the tallest commercial tower in India in 2012.
Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the building offers 15 landscaped sky gardens, more than a dozen terraces, vegetated wall systems, low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets.
- The design team wrapped the core of the building in black stone, symbolizing the rock material within which diamonds are found to emphasize the core’s strength.
- The building shape is based on extensive wind load studies and it comprise a concrete core and post-tensioned concrete slab and spandrel beams.
- The façade system consists of faceted unitized aluminum curtain walls and double façades on portions of the tower.
- The podium features custom point-supported glazing on specialty steel trusses.
