Integrated Services for Faster Delivery

Nu Stadium, which opened in 2026, is the permanent home for the MLS expansion team Inter Miami CF. The 26,700-seat stadium is the centerpiece of a community-focused development that will also include the largest park in the city, a hotel, offices, entertainment, restaurants, and retail.

We provided integrated structural and façade engineering, façade access design, and Advanced Project Delivery™ (APD) services to design architect Manica and architect of record Arquitectonica. We also performed a peer review – required by local regulations – of the connection and framing design for the stadium’s canopy, which was designed by another engineer. In-house coordination across disciplines smoothed the design process and expedited construction.

Designing for a Challenging Site

The stadium’s site – next to Miami International Airport and less than five miles from Biscayne Bay – posed design challenges. Our engineers had to balance a height limit mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration with the site’s high groundwater level. A structural system that combined steel and concrete, with foundation slabs designed to resist hydrostatic pressure, kept elements as “thin” as possible while conforming to local construction material preferences.

Advanced Project Delivery (APD) to Expedite Construction

Our construction engineering team’s APD services consisted of connection design and Tekla modeling for 1,800 tons of structural steel. By working in tandem with our structural and façade engineers, we accelerated the steel-procurement process. We shared our model with bidders; its clear quantity assessments and sample connections helped them quickly and accurately develop their pricing. Once a contractor was selected, we delivered a fully connected Tekla model and connection-design package for use in shop-drawing production. These strategies helped the project meet an aggressive schedule.
