Darren Tennant is a structural engineer at Thornton Tomasetti, specializing in advanced structural analysis, blast design, and testing, with experience evaluating the responses of structures and structural components to impact, collapse, explosive effects, and thermal and fire loading. His work includes 3D nonlinear finite-element analysis using the firm’s proprietary NLFLEX software, as well as computational structural dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and coupled CFD analyses. He has extensive experience validating both rapid-analysis tools and detailed, physics-based software as part of testing programs. Darren has supported projects involving nuclear, conventional, terrorist, and accidental explosive events affecting hardened and conventional structures. His experience also includes designing and retrofitting infrastructure, conventional buildings, and historic structures using advanced structural and airblast analysis.
