Re-designing an Historic Bespoke Residence

After decades as the U.S. Navy’s London headquarters, a new master plan for this 1930s structure calls for restoring its original role as a residential building with bespoke apartments.

We provided façade engineering services to Turner and Townsend and Squire and Partners for this apartment refurbishment in Mayfair in central London.

Highlights

• The project team designed cladding components and opening elements to meet the project’s demanding requirements for thermal, acoustic, security and safety performance, as well as the high aesthetic standards of the Mayfair Conservation Area.
• The scope includes analysis and follow-up considerations regarding thermal performance and condensation risk for opening elements and new and retained walls to achieve sustainability target values.
• The project team sourced off-the-shelf elements wherever possible to streamline the construction program and facilitate easy and cost-effective maintenance.
