Design & Operational Support

We draw on our industry experience and advanced analysis skills to help clients identify, understand and manage risks to people, assets and the environment at every stage – from design and construction through implementation and operations – to:

  • offer experience to help frame the requirement;
  • develop regulatory ‘licence to operate’ safety cases and supporting documentation;
  • prepare safety-management system documentation and tools on behalf of operators;
  • conduct hazard analysis to understand the consequences of a proposed change or activity; and
  • support the risk-management processes to demonstrate the risk is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

Performance Assurance

Using a combination of modelling and simulation capabilities with extensive shock and blast testing we conduct survivability and lethality assessments for people, platforms, systems, buildings and infrastructure. Through R&D and direct frontline support, we ensure naval platforms, their systems and weapons meet their required performance and qualifications.

We worked with Marenav to achieve one of the most complicated equipment shock trials conducted to date in Australia.

We use our industry leading knowledge to facilitate and execute performance assurance. Working with our partners we offer the complete solution for environmental testing, from developing of test strategies and plans, to execution of shock, vibration, EMC/EMI, and noise assessment. Our modelling experts develop assessments to support testing programmes and de-risk schedules or where sufficient data is already available can model performance without physical testing.

Shock Commissioning Trial Collaboration for Australian DefenceOur non-destructive testing facility can accommodate a variety of performance assurance services.

Late-Life Engineering

We perform a variety of analyses to evaluate the performance of safety systems and structures and provide recommendations for their replacement or removal when no longer needed. Our services support risk management for brownfields and life extension scopes, as well as regulatory submissions. We also assist with assets entering lighthouse mode and assess removal optimisation plans.

Climate Action

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our world. This places a demand on our creativity, passion and collaboration to mitigate the risks of climate change by applying our expertise to decarbonisation projects.

New energies are not new to our team, who have experience across a range of proposed and implemented new energy projects and understand the associated hazards and operability issues. From understanding thermal runaway effects in batteries, flammable and toxic hazards, and explosion risks, our consultants bring in depth understanding of combustion chemistry, turbulent flow and heat transfer to understand the effects of an incident on people, structures and assets.

Our Perth team supported the development application for a new hydrogen blending station in Queensland, undertaking a Quantitative Risk Assessment of the risk to surrounding populations. Gladstone is the first city in Australia where the entire gas distribution network supplies customers with a blend of up to 10% (by volume) of renewable gas.
