About

Rachel Michelin is co-director of our Chicago office and leads renovation and repair projects across the Midwest for the Renewal practice. She has broad experience in the evaluation of materials and systems, including brick, terra cotta, concrete, stone, curtain walls, roofing, and waterproofing. Her work focuses on developing appropriate solutions for vintage, archaic, and underdesigned systems, with particular attention to long-term building performance. Drawing on a background in forensics and building science, she is skilled in devising cost-effective strategies for improving the resilience of existing and new buildings. A certified Building Enclosure Commissioning agent, Rachel works closely with building owners, operators, architects, and contractors to align envelope systems and components with performance goals. Outside of her project work, she contributes to the field through her involvement in the Oak Park Historic Preservation Commission and the Landmarks Illinois Easement Committee.
