Featuring 165 apartments and penthouses above retail and restaurant spaces, Landmark Place is a new residential fixture located on the banks of the River Thames and near Tower Bridge. The massing of the building and its façades was carefully developed in response to the site context and the proximity of the Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- The façade is designed to maximize views of the river and Tower Bridge with a transparent and elegant glazed façade system that meets stringent thermal and acoustic requirements.
- Alongside the glass, highly insulated architectural precast and Portland Roach stone cladding give the building a sense of solidity, which is in harmony with the adjacent Custom House, a Grade I listed building clad in Portland stone and featuring a six-column classical portico.
- The project team designed panelized systems composed of off-the-shelf components wherever possible to reduce the construction program, avoid erecting scaffolding along the riverside, and facilitate easy and cost-effective maintenance.
- The glazed elements and precast and stone cladding sections were fully assembled off-site under factory-controlled conditions to achieve the best possible quality. Each panel was transported to site and installed by crane.
