Taking the lead as the tallest mass timber building in the world, the 25-story Ascent has topped out in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Members of our Structural Engineering practice were at the topping out celebration on Friday, December 17, where they left their marks on the final piece of cross-laminated timber lifted into place. Thornton Tomasetti is leading the structural design for the 493,000-square-foot, mixed-use project, which is being developed by New Land Enterprises and designed by Korb and Associates Architects. Bringing together the aesthetic, structural and sustainability benefits of mass timber, Ascent has moved the timber industry forward with a range of innovations. It is set to open in summer 2022. Congratulations to the entire project team!
