
Thornton Tomasetti announces that Raymond Daddazio, Eng.Sc.D., P.E., F.EMI, a senior consultant in the firm’s New York City office, has been selected for membership in the National Academy of Construction’s (NAC) Class of 2020. Daddazio, along with the 36 other industry professionals nominated for membership, was inducted into the organization during the NAC’s Annual Meeting, which was held virtually at the end of October.
The NAC is dedicated to the advancement of the construction industry. It is composed of 360 distinguished professionals from all segments of the built environment who not only demonstrate excellence in the field but openly share their expertise with others. Members of the organization, which is affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin, are selected through a peer nomination and election process.
Daddazio is the fourth executive at Thornton Tomasetti to be inducted into the NAC. He joins former Vice Chairman Aine Brazil, P.E., F.SEI, LEED AP (Class of 2017); Executive Chairman Thomas Z. Scarangello, P.E. (Class of 2015); and Founding Principal Charles H. Thornton, Ph.D., P.E., Hon. AIA, Hon. ASCE (Class of 2005).
In his more than 40-year career, Daddazio has held various leadership roles, including president of Thornton Tomasetti and president and CEO of Weidlinger Associates, which merged with Thornton Tomasetti in 2015. In his current position, Daddazio supports the development of the firm’s services for clients in the global federal market sector and guides the success of numerous infrastructure-related initiatives as well as TTWiiN, its R&D incubator and technology accelerator efforts.
Daddazio is active in several professional organizations. In July 2020, he was named chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York, and will serve a one-year term as head of the coalition of more than 300 member firms across the state. He is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers’ Industry Leaders Council and is a director emeritus of the New York Building Congress.
He holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in civil engineering and engineering mechanics from Columbia University in New York City.
