Our Ho Chi Minh City location recently celebrated a major growth milestone. Thanks to increasing opportunities and new business initiatives, the office has surpassed the 50-employee mark.

“Since it opened in 2010, the Ho Chi Minh City office has demonstrated modest growth and topped out at 15 people in April 2021,” Principal Steve Pacitto, who oversees our Vietnam operation, said. “However, with a reevaluation of our strategic plans and an increase in project work, we are now at 52 employees and on track to achieve our business goals well ahead of schedule.”

Contributing to the office’s growth have been a number of local projects. It recently provided structural engineering services for two master-planned luxury resorts: the 230-room Fairmont Phu Quoc Resorts and Residences and a 34,000-square-meter complex in Dong Mai. It is also providing peer review services for Empire City, a mixed-use development in Ho Chi Minh City comprising three towers designed by Büro Ole Scheeren.

In addition, the office’s technical staff, which includes building information modeling and connection design specialists, have been collaborating with our Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Houston, and Beijing offices on various building design projects in the U.S., Asia and around the world. Ho Chi Minh City will also house a new Forensics animation unit, which will create high-tech 3D simulations that help visualize complex engineering, such as building failures and crane collapses.

“There are many interesting and exciting things happening in the Vietnam office,” Senior Associate Kevin Dang, who manages the office locally, said. “With the inflow of new projects and our expanding staff, we are currently looking for new space to accommodate our steady growth.”
