Sami Rahman P.Eng.

Associate

Sami Rahman is a structural engineer at Thornton Tomasetti, specializing in structural dynamics and vibration analysis and mitigation design. He collaborates with architects, developers, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver practical vibration-control strategies for new and existing structures, including buildings, transportation infrastructure, and industrial facilities. His expertise encompasses floor vibration assessment, human-induced vibration evaluation, design for base isolation, operational and experiential modal analysis for buildings and bridges, and machine-foundation design.

Sami is a leader in the emerging field of acoustic and vibration control for mass timber and timber-hybrid floor systems for sensitive environments such as research and laboratory buildings. He applies innovative techniques and research-driven methods to advance the field of structural dynamics.
