Warren D. Reid

CPEng, NER Associate Director


Warren Reid has nearly 40 years of experience in the Australian defence industry and government sector. He has an extensive background in underwater shock testing, naval shock standards, dynamic loading of materials, and designing and leading research programs on naval platform survivability. As an expert on defence science strategy and planning, Warren has received multiple awards and recognitions, including a Gold Commendation from the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). He has experience leading initiatives related to sustainability for military organizations utilizing systems dynamics modelling, and writing and developing computer programs to support research. During his career, Warren held a number of leadership positions at the Defence Science and Technology Group, an agency that is part of the Australian Department of Defence. While there, he served as an advisor on many challenging projects, including the development of new Attack-class submarines and Hunter-class frigates.
