The COVID-19 pandemic created widespread shortages in medical supply manufacturing and distribution. In response, the global medical device industry began ramping up its use of digital solutions. Virtual patients and silico trials are helping to speed product development and regulatory approval while reducing patient risk and cost. In a recent APECMed seminar, Vice President Kristian Debus, Virginia Chan of Siemens Digital Industries Software and Julianna Yeung of Fresenius Medical Care talked about how digital twins are transforming medical device manufacturing and offered case studies highlighting the latest technical innovations.
