Principal

David Ojala is a structural failure first-responder who is passionate about applying lessons from forensic experience to designing practical solutions that help build a safer, more resilient world. His core capabilities include forensics and failure analysis, dispute resolution, and litigation support for large claims. He also has experience in performance-based structural design and provides new design, retrofit, peer review, and multi-hazard risk and resilience consulting services for complex structures.

As a certified welding inspector (CWI), David provides proactive consulting and failure analysis for structural, marine, and pipeline weldments. Outside the office, he participates in disaster response and assessment activities and frequently speaks on disaster resilience, structural safety assessment, structural plan review, and building code changes. He volunteers as a structures specialist with FEMA Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 4 in Oakland, California. He is also active in professional organizations, having chaired multiple technical committees and served as president of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) and a director of the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC).
