Ola Johansson has more than two decades of structural engineering experience, serving as lead designer and project manager for high-profile projects around the globe. His portfolio includes mid- and high-rise commercial, residential, hospitality and mixed-used developments, with specialized expertise in the application of performance-based design solutions for high-rise structures. His credits include the 35-story residential tower Perla on Broadway in Los Angeles and EDITION West Hollywood hotel and condominium, both in California, and the 32-story Austin Proper Hotel & Residences in Texas. From his base in Los Angeles, Ola is also involved with Pacific Rim projects, such as the ITC One Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which features south Asia’s first skybridge. Ola joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2013 after 15 years with Magnusson Klemencic Associates. His work there included Doha Tower in Qatar, which was the second-tallest building in the world at the time of design, and One Rincon Hill in San Francisco.
